Anyone know the exact date of the budget recommendations regarding the satellite program? classified? I think on the call the CEO said end of April beginning of may, but the report is supposed to be oompleted by April 1?
http://www.vector1media.com/spatialsustain/enhancedview-budget-cut-opposition-heats-up.html this was published on the 20th .."Notably absent from the event was Letitia “Tish” Long, director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, who had been promoted in a press release as a notable speaker. Word was that she was absent in order to attend a cabinet-level meeting with the President to go over the budget, and likely review a report that was due over the weekend that analyzes the commercial satellite spending..."
I think that's right. Might be mid-May instead of early May, however. Keep in mind the cuts will have to be approved by congress. Can't take it toooo seriously. Whatever, Geoeye will book commercial orders before the new satellite is launched. Matt McConnell said there is a high volume of inquiries from international defense and intelligence agencies re GEOY2. This should be one hot stock by 2013.
you have to realize that this stock is severly depressed because of the potential cuts from the government. If the report comes out as a solid win for the company, it will shoot the stock price at 32+ easily. Remember, it dropped so fast in the beginning when the program was on the "deep cuts" column. Yes, it has to be approved, but there may or may not be a new president. Also the 110m payment should help investors be at some ease as well
