Orbital will report next week on 3Q earnings. The estimates are at 23 per share. For the last 4 quarters the average beat on eps has been over 30%. Not bad. There are reasons to believe that this quarter should be good as well. It should be noted however, there is no revenues associated with the the successful completion of the COTS demo. There is also the issue of a cautious management , which knows this stuff is hard, and takes little for granted , even in good times such as these. They have repeated at each Conference Call that they will not feel confident until they have a flight or two, under there belt, and with that , they will become more firm in the net revenue release. They have repeatedly said that will not come until the 4th Q. Having said all that, ORB has done quite a few "other" launches this quarter, and this is probably the best operational performance from the company I have ever seen. So unless there is some extraneous item I am unaware of, expect a beat on Thursday. This is a conference call worth listening to.
Price action has been good. It cut through 21.62 resistance fairly easily, and now approaches some minor issues at the 22.30-22.50 area. Absent the idiots in Congress, going into the meeting we should either approach those levels( we are now) or shatter them and move to the next level of 24 something. IMHO, we have a clear ride to highs reached in the Summer of 2008.... Well at least to the next launch:)
