    Technical question about XIN buyback

    yes the shares are not counted in the oustanding number of shares, do not pay a divident etc, the main difference is that they can be sold later in the open market again if they are kept as Treasury stock, taking advantage of price increases if any. We would be better off as shareholders if they retired them altogether, but maybe they will later, who knows

    • Good post. I didn't know that.

      So, if XIN's price rises, Management can just sell the Treasury shares and they become "un-Repurchased" and add to the Outstanding share total (thus diluting EPS)?

      In that case, it seems like we'd definitely prefer it if those shares get retired/cancelled.
