Given this morning's underwhelming earnings report by TNT and their resultant discussion of plans to divest struggling Brazilian and Chinese units, what do board members think? Personally, I wonder if we miscalculated jour strategy and jumped to swallow TNT whole when patience might have allowed us to obtain the business segments we really wanted on the cheap. It appears some entity or entities- I certainly hope not FDX- are going to acquire these key units in short order. Their investors conference is scheduled for March 25th and the announcement will be made then if not sooner. I'd be fascinated to know if UPS might be entitled to bid on those smaller divisions even thought the larger acquisition was nixed? If so, the break-up fee of $200M+ might have been worthwhile since the valuation of TNT's parts have decreased since the UPS acquisition activities caused such speculation. Thoughts?
