unions and drivers have more to loose than UPS it this happens unions have to pay out big time inunion strike funds and also the cost of insurannce , A good possibility of drivers being layed off and lower members might be out for a long tern if volume drops

UPS is one of just a few companys who pays for all employees benefits. Drivers/partimers pay nothing weekly for health care benefits. I'm hearing company wants them to pay .25 cents per hour or around $12 bucks a week for their benefits. Not unreasonable and drivers should go for it.
The long term goal of UPS has been "trained chimps" for employees. An address label that tells which box in the boxline as well as what position in a package car along with a DIAD that gives the delivery order equals mission accomplished. You're likely to see a lockout with a modern day version of the Pinkertons with dogs, guns and clubs coupled with the immigrant du jour for replacement employees. Look under strike services for whats available.
that's the only thing they pay for. they don't match the 401 k not even a penny. but they want you in it.
took the safety awards away. and the turkey too. you don't know nothing about this company. so don't even say they should take what they our offering . they cut everything they can , since they went corp.
The company wants $90 per week for full and part timers and a 10% increase each year after that. Problem is the part timers would be paying above the federal 9.5% of their pay for healthcare, thats against the law. Oh wait UPS is above the law, they can do what they want..lol Stock is gonna go down hard.
Last and only strike...1997 was over part time to full time job ratios........The union requested more jobs to be filled as full time since the part time slots were close to full time schedules........
The members are not stupid. A strike will lose lots of business to competitors, and the strike may cost lots of jobs to be eliminated as a result. Why ruin the jobs b/c of a few more dollars to the Dr. ??
UPS employees work very hard both union and front line mgt, but get with it, mgt already has to copay benefits. you have to give some where, you want higher wages and 100% cover benefits? It cant be that way, I would take a pop into the pension plan and either higher wage or copay benefits, but you should have to start paying towards health care sooner or later.
IF you are in a right to work state get out of the union and save your money. they offer you nothing unless you are a slacker who does not want to perform or is a cry baby . then they are not much help UNIONS ARE A DYING THING OF THE PAST . laws have changed to protect workers
I think UPS has positioned itself in a way since 97, to make it very hard for the union to strike. Most rolled their thrift into UPS stock before going public, they dont want to see that lost. PAS now allows for anyone to go into a job with little to no knowledge. There are more and more casuals on the road and doing the same job as a max rate employee for a fraction of the pay and doing just as well. I think the union needs to start admitting that they can be replaced a little easier than before. Most WILL pay for their benefits if made too. Their are people willing to take their jobs.
