So, with the unscheduled market closing, will the regulating authorities modify any of the rules, or will those of us holding calls (for example, CQP) be forced to swallow the price drop on ExDiv? I was planning on exiting everything today, but obviously can't now. Any ways to avoid this?
go to the optionsclearing website and look at the infomemos box in the middle of the page. there are a few regarding the closures. they're cryptic. it looks like the OCC is closed for trading options, but will honor exercises. but that doesn't really help you. talk to your broker directly, if you can reach them. they may have other instructions.
I read through the stuff on the OCC site, and it looked like you were right. I'm going to see what'll happen with CQP post-dividend. Historically it's dropped...but this runup was so weak that who knows what'll happen. If it spikes up, I've got sell orders in to catch the ride.
