I bought last week and owned yesterday (and still do today), so do I get the dividend in July if I sell today? I thought you need to be "shareholders of record as of June 28, 2013", per the IR email I received below. If I sell today I am no longer a shareholder of record on the 28th.
Bethesda, MD - June 18, 2013 - American Capital Agency Corp. (Nasdaq: AGNC) ("AGNC" or the"Company") announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of $1.05 per common share for the second quarter 2013. The dividend is payable on July 26, 2013 to common shareholders of record as of June 28, 2013, with an ex-dividend date of June 26, 2013.
You get the div if you were in last night at closing you can sell today and still get the div. div record day is always 3 days later due to settlement that takes 3 days. But the stock will fall to by div amount on x day
I appreciate your reply, but you didn't answer my real question. It is that statement "shareholders of record as of June 28, 2013", that concerns me. If I sell today or tomorrow, I am no longer a "shareholder of record as of June 28, 2013".
