ceo mentioned the german technology assessment done recently...
found this abstract and link to the pdf (141 pages, german and english, haven't read it yet)
conclusion line is interesting:
<<Considering medical evidence weighing the question whether HPV testing should be implemented into screening routine may not be if but how to do so.>>
encouraging but the how is always the issue isn't it?
technically looks great...trading at a premium to dax close
maybe there's a whiff of something in the air
you have to go back to 2000 or so to see qiagen make a point move up bigger than about 60cents! we shall see
Went to Tucson for a gyn appt for my wife with a gyn associated with Kenneth Hatch. Thought DWP would be a standard there but again I am wrong. Only for ASCUS. Glad I went along as I insisted on hpv testing and the lady doc said ok but that the insurance may not pay for the hpv portion of the test. Told her of the press release from a few yearrs back in which Hatch was quoted as he was pleased to say DWP now offered to all UMC patients -NOT!
She had no clue that new guidelines are coming and DWP should be a standard and already is according to Hatch (at UMC). I told her I would send the guidelines next month as she only gets the green journal.
There were more that one item not following guidelines but at least when I started providing the literature she did not just blow us off.
Impact to revenues may well still take time as guidelines still have to be read in order to be followed.....
Just listened to the conference webcast... integration going very well (ahead of schedule), QGEN reps are actually using the HPV test to leverage their other assays in labs.
No mention of guidelines..
