I can see BC from my window, and it's not looking good. Had family in town for Thxgiving, and they reported lame service at the Hyatt. Still not at full staffing levels, and this is true for a lot of the hotels. Rental market very weak. Ours and a friends rentals, usually rented by workers by now, are empty.
Not short or long right now, just telling you what we're seeing up here.
You sound like you have no idea what you're talking about. BC looks great for early season (drive up wildridge rd. and tell me it looks bad) and the rental market is doing great compared to the rest of the state and the state is doing much better than the rest of the country. Rent is at 2007 levels in the Vail Valley (just look at craigslist) whereas the Breck area is more at the 2000 level.
Hotels are never full staff until closer to X-mass and this is a deep recession. Parking lot's are still full on the weekends so Denver traffic is still heavy. It'll be fine. We've got the name the location and the snow... eventually.
Worry about the market's performance not Vail's. That's the only price mover for the foreseeable future.
