between $45 and $48. Cbsh has a strong regional franchise and consistant earnings. PE of 14.2 should represent a buying opportunity. If Commerce becomes an acquisition target, stock could increase in value into the $70 range.
The leadership of CBSH has never indicated any interest in selling. David and Johnathan Kemper are both relatively young and don't seem to have the desire sell or merge the compay. The best for share holder value might be to remain independent as the company has extremely strong credits and sound earnings growth. Its an outstanding regional bank by my estimation. I agree its trading to cheap at this time. Should at least be 42 to 45.
The Kemper family controls much less than 50% of this stock. I would hope they would look out for the interest of other shareholders. I have been long this stock for over 15 years, but this bank should be for sale if the price is right.
