    norther california whole foods

This week, I visited three whole foods stores. Last year at this time they had a shelf full of naturals at two of the three I stopped in, and this year, nothing. Not one bottle on the shelf. No bottles = no revenue. Come on Cue, tell the truth.... Your turn around is a disaster.

    • I am in the beverage business and was visiting with Walmart last week.... I was visiting some of the different types of walmart formats and was really impressed with the Jones cane sugar glass bottles on the shelf in the cold box and the end cap at the front end. The retails seemed very aggressive and I noticed that there were coupons for $2.00 off the 4 packs which were on sale for $3.98. I mentioned to our broker how strong the Jones brand looked at walmart and he said(he calls on the buyer) that the sales were very poor. I would say there is a load in which will overstate the short term quarter both in sales and revenues and then they will really have a problem when walmart asks them to pick it up or mark it down. At the end of the day, Jones Soda as it is today just does not matter..... Also, someone should ask the CEO the last time she visited with ar retailer, she is in la la land. Reminds me of the status of the company in 2004... They need to take a different approach or just close the doors.

      • thank you for the insight. i agree with you. i think everyone is coming to the realization now after the 4th turnaround attempt. this is a 90s brand with not a clue how to manage itself in 2014. not. a. clue. zero. clue. Cue's strategy of cutting expenses and trying to build sales will not result in any type of investable company. how could it? the soda costs more than most beer walmart sells and walmart is horrible fit for a premium soda brand. just silly in fact. is that the splurge item in walmart? you upgrade the soda to a goofy flavor with bipolycrapola artficial garbage in it? you buy the crappy ice cream to save money for the expensive soda? hardly. especially when the same 3.99 buys you a 12 pack of coke, pepsi, whatever. as for whole foods, jones has no cache for whole foods. it will not last there or will be a slow seller with a small shelf. you have shrinking sales here. cue is not dealing with growing the company with a lower overhead. she is dealing with lowering the expenses to make up for collapsing sales. nothing they are doing at this point will turn into some hot product. i dont believe they can point to a hot product they are offering. so why be in business? the gambler buys shares here going into season with the same conviction the gambler bets on 32 on the roulette wheel.

jones model is all push no pull ...the coupons to create pull is a clear sign of desperation to raise capital because they can not find anyone to close a deal to dilute to survive...10k say's they can survive until the end of the year if they collect all A/R and sell all inventory at their price point that has low margins and doesn't cover operational expenses.. it's on sale and 2.00 coupons ...LMFAO... jones days are numbered..

        Tick Tock ...

    • just checked out the food coop in Eureka California, no Jones to be found. As a matter of fact, I've yet to see a bottle of it anywhere in Northern California. Jones Soda's footprint and it's turnaround are as elusive as Bigfoot.....

      • If the turn around is as "fine" as you said," why has the stock lost almost 40% in market value in the last 60 days or are you just as stupid as your post indicates? If you had responded to Alderson that he was full #$%$ because you checked out those stores and they were packed with Jones product that's one thing. What you attacked his post with was childish nonsense. The kind of poste that dimwitted infant who wanted us to "hold for the gold".
