More union crap....they need to be eliminated

MANITOWOC — Thomas Musial, The Manitowoc Company's senior vice president-human resources and administration, issued a statement Thursday declaring International Association of Machinists officials have not given striking union members accurate information.

"In our opinion, Union 516 representatives are not providing its rank-and-file members with accurate information regarding certain bargaining issues, and as a result are misrepresenting the company's offer," Musial stated.

"It is our intention to not only keep all communications regarding this labor negotiation between the company and the union, but to amicably resolve all outstanding issues at the bargaining table," Musial stated.

"At this time, no further discussions or meetings have been scheduled. However, the company is ready and willing to resume negotiations at the request of the federal mediator."

Local 516 members Sunday voted 183-2 to reject a proposed four-year contract.

Business Representative Ben Elizondo said: "The company proposed eliminating long-standing contract language requiring any employee who benefits from negotiated wages and benefits to become a member of the union that negotiated those benefits."

Musial stated 156 members of Boilermaker Local 443 were "regrettably" issued layoff notices Wednesday as a result of Machinists Local 516 members walking off the job Monday. Musial stated the layoffs become effective after today's shifts.
