So I'm sure this is an ignorant question (and to the folks who jump on me for asking it, I want to say in advance to go *&%f4 yourselves), but is Nuance technology incorporated into the Android speech capability at all? I use speech recognition software on my motorola droid razr every day for work travel, and it is pretty amazing. Conversely, my fiance's Siri assistant on her Iphone is horrible, just horrible. So is the speech technology on my android phone purely Google, or are there some Nuance patents at work there? To me the answer gives some idea how competitive Nuance really is in the speech recognition arena. Thanks.
Nuance was one of the original partners in the development of Android. At the time I remember the #$%$ they took for giving the tech away for free. Might this chicken come back to roost some time soon? Siri has been a non starter for NUANCE only because nothing has been divulged. Think of the possibilities if NUANCE is deferring rev as Ricci keeps saying and they truly are Android, Siri, Watson, MSFT, etc etc all bundled in one? Think about it...where's Tomcat? I always thought Vlingo was the purchase of the decade. That a acquisition has been very quiet. I believe the 4th of July comes sooner than anyone is expecting!
