CooTek, an innovative and award-winning developer of TouchPal Keyboard, today announced its plan to reinforce its presence in the US market after it successfully concluded the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) case against Nuance Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN).
ITC Judge Lord issued a summary determination that the latest versions of TouchPal Keyboard did not infringe the claims at issue in Nuance accused patents (US Patent Nos. 7,750,891, 7,098,896, and 7,453,439). Subsequently, the parties settled and Nuance withdrew the lawsuits against CooTek in ITC and US district court.
"We are glad that the ITC case ended in our favor. Nuance filed the ITC complaint after we turned down their acquisition request," said Michael Wong, CEO, CooTek. "Although the ITC investigation was a huge cost for a startup, we firmly believed in our innovations and fought vigorously to defend them. The ITC agreed with us and it turned out to be a huge success.
