Yeah - I caught that one - not on Dcinematoday but on CIDM's yahoo site. Similar to the aforementioned release but elaborated just a bit on some particulars.
"Cinedigm's Digital Cinema division facilitates funding, installation and operations support, along with ongoing VPF administration, for the company's digital cinema rollout plans."
BTN has no exclusive rights to NEC in North America and is not mentioned in either PR. Granted - BTN does handle some installations for CIDM but CIDM has their own Cinedigm Certified ongoing maintenance and monitoring service.
With the usual silence coming from Omaha - who's to say whether BTN got any spin off from the screen, service, monitoring or install here. Again - odds are either they have been cut out of this by NEC's other resellers or have no interest in generating any PR momentum to halt the current slide in pps.
If they do get some install and screen business out of this - still a long term drop in pps due to lack of new revenue streams. Any hiccup in price or revenues will be temporary.
Again - all IMHO - but the silence coming from the BTN board is deafening.
I know there wasn't an exclusivity agreement between BTN and NEC but there seemed to be an implied one for the longest time until things changed. Was there any reasoning over the expansion of distributors for NEC equipment in the US? Am I correct in assuming they were not satisfied with BTN's performance?
