When the company is growing in double digits, its stock can split in short interval. That was pre-Weldon era that JNJ had frequent split and every JNJ companies were striving to double digits target. Since then, I do not know which year Weldon had delivered a 10%+ annual growth.
For a mature company like JNJ,, I am more eager to see the company continues its dividend increase than stock split.
sjj--I agree that Weldon was not the best Chairman and that Gorsky is a much better leader. Having said that, Gorsky is not so great that he turned around a $65B company in just a few months. Many of the pieces were put in place before he got there. No doubt Weldon was a lame duck for the last year but Gorsky needs to have a 10 year run as well to be judged. I believe Gorsky is the right guy and if JNJ does not move up another penny this year and Conumer gets fixed it will be a very good year
