I've recently heard from two people who I feel are reliable sources that Cummins is developing a new type engine for heavy duty hauling highway trucks to run on natural gas. Can anybody confirm this and just what is it? Was told this would be announced in early spring. Thanks.
They are working on all types of natural gas engines, for heavy and medium trucks, pickup trucks and engines for things like oil and gas drilling rigs which are most diesel today. Go to Google and type in Cummins natural gas engines and you will get more info than you could care to get. Most fleet vehicle managers such as Waste Management, ATT, etc are moving to natural gas vehicles. In addition, Pilot Flying J truck stops are in the process of adding both LNG & CNG fueling options to existing facilities. The fleet managers typically install their own refueling equipment.
