With 9% unemployment I'm sure they could fill the jobs. Why not pull a Ronald Reagan with the Air traffic Controllers and hire new workers...........
because if you add it goes like this.. fire 45,000 workers and hire 45,000 replacements.. the unemployment levels just remain the same. #2, the newly terminated 45,000 would be eligible for welfare and unemploymnet whereas those newly HIRED may not be on unemployent when they are hired... #3.. it takes 5 years, like any craft, to master this skill.. plus vz has topay for training etc etc... #4.... the federal govt can only step in if it is a threat to national security or the GDP, which it is not and wont ever be because there are other telecom companies out there PLUS this being an election year, i dont think too many pols will want to get involved negatively in this dispute
Those who are on video acting in ways that are not within Verizon Code of Conduct will be fired. More than a dozen letters of termination have already been sent out with more to come. Stupid actions by some getting carried away,
please be careful out there and use your head
NLRB. When a group of workers organize a union and get accepted by the company as the bargaining agency, their hands get tied. They cannot fire the employees, they cannot go out of business, etc, etc and etc.
Between the gov't and the union a company gets screwed.
The company is no longer actually owned by the company. It is owned by the gov't and the union. They tell the company what they can and cannot do. My dollar and I'm forced to spend it the way they want, not me.
Some work has already been permanently moved away from area that were difficult to gain access to. I honestly can't say what will happen to the union employees that are striking that used to do those jobs. There is a common misconception among the strikers that the word managers means that everyone doing emergency work assignments are first level managers when in fact anyone in the company that is not bargained for is considered managers for strike purposes only. Most of the employees that were assigned emergency work assignments are technicians, engineers, etc..etc. These people either reported to the assignment or get fired so it's not fair to spit on them and push them down as has been known to happen. Those actions are what caused the jobs to move.
Common sense, which you probably will have to Google that and The Law....Savvy Union Officials know what is needed to keep scumsucking losers from manipulating Contracts...Maybe if you get away from the Fry Machine at Mickey D's you just might get a taste of the real World.....Now I hope I screwed your day for you.......
