    Court Appeals

Can any one explain in plain English what does this message means?

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ): The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled that a district court’s judgment of infringement against Verizon, on ActiveVideo’s ’582 patent, has been reversed. Since the appeals said, “The lower court’s judgment of infringement with respect to other ActiveVideo patents is affirmed,” and because “Verizon, has not argued either before the district court, or on appeal, that a finding of non-infringement of the ’582 patent should result in a reduction of damages,” the court affirmed the damages against Verizon in full. In addition to this, the district court’s grant of summary judgment of invalidity of Verizon’s ’748 patent was vacated. It was remanded for further proceedings and the district court’s entry of a permanent injunction was reversed. Their shares traded up $0.87 (2.05%), they were recently at $43.12.
