    New Rig Contracts!

yepper, got the same news on my ameritrade account, not for nothing people, but with news like this the stock should be going higher, no change and it is because of the debt, they need to start paying down the debt a bit.

    • Since the debt was incurred to buy/build rigs and the rigs are mostly leased out at rates that cover debt payment, operating cost, and provide a profit as long as demand for the rigs remains strong I wouldn't be surprised to see the company add more debt to finance acquisition of more rigs.

I have no problem if the firm accumulates excess profits and uses them to pay down debt. I just think with current high oil prices and the strong demand for deep sea rigs that it is 50/50 which way the total debt figure moves.
