Divergence, you don't even know what it means.
As to the direction of the markets, with the dow at record highs and the s & p only a few points away from record highs I would have to say that the trend is up, not down. Betting against an uptrending market is like catching a falling knife in reverse.
It is easier to swim with the current than against it.
It's not SCHW that's got me bearish, SCHW has never looked better, it's the larger issues... consider this http://www.rgemonitor.com/blog/roubini/193711 and also a few facts another successful investor has pointed out that should be obvious.... but complacency is everywhere and investors have short memories. http://ttthedgefund.blogspot.com/ "Lazy traders are the favorite victims of the market, which keeps throwing new tricks at the unprepared. Whatever your psychological flaws and fears, whatever your hidden weakness and obsessions, the market will seek them out, find them. and use them against you." Dr. Alexander Elder .....anyone not hedged in this market is asking for trouble. Cheers!
Friday's move will probably hold and 20 is now probably support - this move was long overdue. If Chuck has $2.5 billion coming in cash, then that is around $2 per share. The street expects at least a .50 special dividend, which will use about $600 million. Still, if Chuck doesn't find a use for the cash, they will not meet their ROI goals. Would be nice if Chuck did a Dutch auction - haven't seen those in a while. My thought is that the stock will move to the 22-24 range now that it has broken above 20.
FYI- They don't have the cash yet, but when they do get it they will be a prime takeover target unless they spend it either via stock buybacks or a special dividend. I'm rooting for a large special dividend.
So HOW BOUT THOSE INTERNALS MR. BREAKOUT? Still negative, mixed or are they now positive?
<<Up $1.04? whatz going on here? I've never seen such a pop in SCHW over the last year.....any pending news here? >>
Just came sniffing around here myself, with the same question. Thought I might find some regulars with some insight. Nothing yet.
I think it just broke decisively through 20... this is what breakouts look like, and it was long overdue anyway. Would be nice to get a 10-15% move above 20. It is possible that there is more to this but I am not counting on it. My 22-24 dollar fundamental target is still what I am looking for. Would be nice to be pleasantly surprised though and get bought out in the mid to high 20s...
