    • If they were unencumbered, I'd say yes, $2 billion for the graphics patents to a Samsung or Qualcomm might be possible (in a bidding war). The problem is, all of AMD's assets are encumbered. It has over $2 billion of senior secured debt. Those patents and everything else of any material value are security for repayment of that indebtedness. It is unlikely that a creditor is going to consent to sale of such assets so that AMD can raise money to pay salaries, engage in R&D and the like. It might if the proceeds went to reduce the indebtedness, but not if others instead of the secured creditor benefited from the proceeds.

      • Dream on! Someone said well here. In a bankruptcy, all the patents go to creditors, and are then sold for peanuts and as quickly as possible too (like mere days). No royalties, just cash and carry.
It's ruthless. No one cares. No one understands what they are selling when it gets that bad.
That time is nearing and JPM knows it. JPM also don't really care or understand any of it. All they want is their fees. AMD could be left paying OTHERS royalties on their own patents.

    • You are joking, right? AMD patents should be worth at least $2 billion. No matter what these trolls say. ;)

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
