AMD death spiral continues, unabated, in Q4...

AMD is dying. There's no rational basis for doubting this statement. The only area for disagreement is around when.

In Q4 we saw AMD do exactly what it told us it would - see its revenue stream contract further. In Q2, a whopping 9%, at the weak end of AMD's Q3 guidance for Q4, in this case.

Margins hit record lows of just 15%. GPUs were AMD's only profitable line of business, and even there, NVDA grew while AMD shrank.

    AMD's cash evaporated.

Today, the Mercury marketshare data for Q2 came in. Intel gained marketshare in every segment, achieving its higher total marketshare number since 2002, more than a decade ago.

Falling revenues, dwindling cash, crashing margins, massive losses, and shrinking market share. These are the indicia of failure. The harbingers of imminent corporate death.

At this rate, AMD should become infeasible financially by no later than Q2 2013.

    • Ever notice how bashers present facts and numbers, and pumpers never do?

That's because there are NO POSITIVE FACTS related to AMD's current predicament.

They are shrinking faster than they've ever shrunk before. Just look at the revenue contraction over the last five quarters. AMD is making half as much revenue as it was a year ago. Compare INTC and NVDA over that same time frame. Their revenues have remained pretty level for the same time period.

When one company implodes overnight, and its competitors hold the line, there is one and only one logical conclusion - the shrinking company is deadmeat.

    • Rather than deny you`re short, you take the cowards approach and just make up lies.. Pathetic pumper..

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Agree , 2 more bad quarters ( what other kind of quarters is there ?) and we are there standing over the ditch mumbling the last rites , may you rot in hell.

i have a q1 prediction. rory will resign. he admitted into an open mic at an analysts tech day that he was being muzzled by the board. he was then a no-show at ces. he's nearly vanished from the public eye. he is embarrassing...even to a company as pathetic as amd.

    • Fundamentally, AMD is dead. You are right. What we're watching now is the bloat and swelling that precedes decomposition and disintegration.

I give it into late Q3, owing to how hard it is to burn a billion dollars in cash, even though they can burn half a billion a quarter.

      Otherwise, this bears repeating:

"AMD is dying. There's no rational basis for doubting this statement. The only area for disagreement is around when.

      • come on YBF you don't really believe amd has one billion left ? Well maybe with Rory's allowence him mom give him ? It has to be a billion in cash and cash equvilents ... like a few zillion fusion chips waiting for the netbook era to revive. Amd lost about 500 million, there was a ton of expenses that were big money. I don't care what amd is showing , even if they put in hectors old office furniture or are counting the leaseback money which MAYBE will come in the spring now or Rory's bus pass .. there is no way !!!
