When you see AMD stall like this...

...when peers are up, going into the final days of a fiscal quarter, you know AMD is going to miss. Big.

$2 just around the corner. Fan boys get your rationalizations ready. You have a doozy to delude yourself about this time. Specifically be prepared to spin why it is that AMD being forced out of high margin high ASP segments into low margin low ASP segments of similar volume is a good thing.

But brain-dead CEO Rory Read was right truthful about one thing. AMD did quit competing with Intel. It's just that it wasn't actually AMD's decision. Two quarters ago AMD ceased to offer any chip in any segment that could compete with Intel's offerings in the same segment.

AMD didn't migrate to other segments or even retreat. It was routed to them and fled in complete disarray. Intel it seems isn't firing rock salt any more. It is loaded with deer slugs, and aiming carefully at AMD's vital bits. This isn't so much AMD losing a battle as it is Intel murdering AMD and selectively dismantling it's corpse.

When you think about it, actually Intel is more the owner of AMD than are AMD's own shareholders. As in PWNED!
