Considering the much anticipated spin off for SHOS this week, now might be a good time to take a look at what the latest news is for Orchard Supply, which was SHLD's last spin off. Lets see here. Did you notice the news that two of Orchard Supply's largest shareholders has reduced their common stock ownership holdings considerably since the spin off took place? According to Seeking Alpha: "The biggest holder of Orchard, ESL Investments (Eddie Lampert), has been selling its stake in OSH. ESL Investments decreased it holdings by almost 23% in its latest quarterly filing at the end of June. Fairholme Capital Management has also decreased its stake."
So I ask you...if the largest shareholders of Orchard Supply are selling their stock just months after the spin off, then one does wonder how long the two largest shareholders of SHOS will hold onto their shares? Will it be longer than Orchard Supply?
