a naive question -- whered does the div come from?
I find this ETF very attractive, but I don't understand where the dividend comes from. Can someone explain that to me? None of the holdings pay anything near 10%, and certainly not on avg. So, from whence?
It's not a "dividend"; it is a "capital gain distribution." Although HQL does hold some preferred stocks and junk bonds that pay yields, it is also constantly buying and selling the stocks in its portfolio. "Trading gains" is probably the best way of explaining where the quarterly cash perk comes from.
You certainly have an annoying way of responding to the guy's question. I figured you must be some self-absorbed adolescent asshole. But no! You're 62 years old. For god's sake, didn't your parents ever teach you civility? Typical Yahoo msg board. No wonder I rarely waste time here.
