TiVo and Blockbuster Inc. Form Alliance Companies to Provide Expanded Entertainment Services to TiVo Customers
"the world's largest provider of rentable home entertainment, today announced an alliance to expand Blockbuster's traditional video rental business to an entertainment service delivered through TiVo. The companies will work together to develop and deploy a video on demand like service"
Look at the timing on my last post. Wow, BBI has lots of money and they need to expand their enterprises, but I had no idea about the tivo deal. Just a start for bbi. I really didn't think they would just die.
This is a good deal for TiVo, getting its name in front of Blockbuster's 65 million accounts. But the TiVo and AOL deals don't solve BB's basic long-term problem. If you're an owner of movie content, and you're able to shoot it directly from your mainframe to any Internet device in the world via broadband, you don't need Blockbuster type middlemen anymore. Unless Blockbuster begins creating it's own content (maybe live up-skirt cams in their stores) they have to take themselves in a whole new direction or they're dead.
I know of no one who has a Tivo. Everyone I know is happy taping their stuff with their VCR. This deal won't amount to jack. It's just a way for BOTH of them to find more suckers...er, I mean investors.

WOW PADSAVE_99 THANKS FOR THE TIP!!!!!
So just because everyone YOU know is happy taping their stuff with their VCR means the TIVO deal won't amount to jack? What a GREAT analogy to use to persuade investors! I should have taken my advice on stocks long ago from worldly individuals like yourself.
