But the first time I used NFLX I decided to buy stock (I did not, but I suggested many friends to do so). That was at 9.8, so I agree this is hard to short. I would have shorted at 26, looking for 21. Now it reassumed its uptrend. I never buy after uptrends, but we have to reckon that this progress was made with just 1 million users, and there are other 30 M potential clients, so the upside is open. I stopped to use Block Buster (I call them Buck Robber) months ago. They will never have a single late fee from my pocket.
I'm actually quite surprised at the patent; it could, if I read it correctly, spell trouble for NFLX's competitors. After all, it's the model of renting that's at issue, and it's the model that was copied by WMT and others.
