I will leave Netflix and switch to blockbuster due to the new 4 week delay on new releases. I don't like the new agreement, and they obviously didn't have the customer in mind when they did this. There instant watch section is poor.
Blockbuster doesn't do this. Leave a post if you agree!
Yes I downgraded my membership to 1 at a time with free streaming. The free streaming is great for my 7 year old-they have quite a good selection for kids. I have to agree with most people here, they are shooting themselves in the foot and giving BBI a huge advantage in having new releases from WB available immediatly. Generally what I have found out using BBI for a 2 week free trial, is that it is difficult to get new releases right away by mail(especially blueray)....but,with the 5 a month in store exchange it is a breeze to get a new rental when you want to. I see no clear advantage to "grow out streaming capabilities" as people have said on this board. BBI has the same access to WB movies to stream!Bad business move!
The customer was certainly in mind when this deal was made. This deal will likely significantly expand the available titles for instant streaming, which is becoming extremely popular. Most new TVs and Blu-ray players will all come equipped with NFLX streaming capabilities. In 2-3 years, most subscribers will have devices in their home that will be capable of streaming video. This deal also allows NFLX to spend more money improving the streaming capabilities. If you only want DVDs by mail, and your most important requirement is to have them the exact day they are released (which makes no sense to me after you have waited several months already), then Blockbuster might be better for you for now. However, if Blockbuster wants to stay in business, they will making similar deals soon.
This one is for you shorts... I'm normally a long position on anything, but they stand to lose as much as 30% of their revenue with this decision if they keep this up!!!!
New Television season is just starting up, my Tivo should keep me occupied while I cancel my Netflix subscription for screwing their customers and making them wait even longer for newly released movies. $20 a month back in my bank account. Sorry Netflix, bad move.
