I heard Uncle Ben was making dovish remarks after hours I believe, i.e. no need to fear Benny Bucks is here. Dumb move. Start getting the patient off the morphine sooner rather than later. They seem scared to taper. I wonder if there will be another excuse in March.
Get the patient off the meds and let the chips fall where they may. or at least initiate the process.
The stock was bid higher today because people read the arguments of the shorts on this board, decided those posters were dumber than rocks, and did the opposite.
Also this was a MOMO JAM SCAM, and not a reversal.
I know you are making light of claims that are made on a daily basis, but it is pretty obvious that some air is being let out of MOMO stocks. look at GRPN and PCLN getting punished as I type. All of these MOMO's are being dumped on very high volume. They didn't all coincidentally break down for individual reasons at the same time. I know you don't believe that some are held up for the sake killing options, but look at how many companies had reported earnings and remained in a tight range only to plummet right after OPEX.
As i told you before you don't have to believe in the voodoo, but you will be affected by it if you own stocks.
Not all momos are created equal. Some will do very well, some will not go anywhere, some will be in the discount bin in 5 years time or BK. It takes some serious analysis to speculate correctly. Everything from technology to spending habits have trends. So I believe it boils down to buying companies that you think make the right call using correct data and judgement. With Twitter, I heard that they priced it fair and bid it up on purpose to create some faux excitement. So when the insiders sold in 6 month time, it won't be $26 but more likely $36-40. That at least $10 a share high level theft on the back of the public. If it even stays at $36-40 in 6 month's time.
CA_is_greece, for the most part I agree with you and that is why after getting beat up a bit in puts I will make options the exception rather than the rule and I don't believe in weekly options at all. They never should have been allowed, a license to steal, just downright silly.
I do believe that speculative stocks are subject to similar and large movements not based on fundamental news. However, which ones are long running successes vs. fails, and which ones are still lower than they will be in 5 years, is not answered by that. Based on that I'd still short and go long based on my expectation of their future relative to their current value.
I'd have shorted TWTR today if I could.
