From yesterday's filing of CXW's 10-K, it has been noted that, from 3Q04 > 4Q04, the company's shares outstanding (S/O) increased 10.8539+%, from 35,266,206 to 39,093,965 or 3,827,759 shares.
The market capitalization (M-C) currently shown on the Y!-F's Summary Quote & Key Statistics pages have yet to be updated (by data provider, Reuters) to reflect this increase in S/O. It could take them a week or weeks to do so (albeit, they've been much more prompt at such M-C updating, recently).
Based on yesterday's closing price of $36.88, CXW's M-C should be on the order of $1.442 billion.
How did the General miss this? CCA also "forgot" to mention on their 10K that the Floyd County Kentucky's 600 bed prison with departing Indiana cons is about to be shuttered, along with North Fork, Prairie, etc. Does the SEC really care if the filing is "reality based?"
That omission is on a par with CCA's claim last time out that they hadn't any escapes from in '02 and '03.
Time for us all to retreat, eh General? Except for those who thought Gallipoli was a good idea.
I read the 10-K - well, not with a magnifying glass, but I skimmed through it - and I found mention of the potential closing of Otter Creek as well as the vacancies in North Fork, Prairie, and Crowley County Colorado for that matter. It's not that hard to find.
