but I hate REITs. For about a quarter of a century. I "tolerate" this particular REIT because it recombines CCA and PZN, because it dominates its market, and because it's run by people with an outstanding track record. I'm hoping it will succeed despite being a REIT. As the market shows, there are some even less tolerant than this old Doc fan. I'd be happy if I never had to hear the word "REIT" again.
In terms of price performance, old-CXC/CCA/"new" PZN is a pretty mixed bag. Granted there was tremendous perfomance from 1994 to mid 1996. Prior to that it was flat, since that time it has been a roller coaster, where the only way to make money was to try to time the market.
