I think I will be in Vegas this weekend. My brother and his wife are flying in from Ohio and I have a couple friends who live there.
I know this will come as a complete surprise to you but there are some problems with the Franklins. First, I got a traffic ticket for a California stop at a local stop sign. If I don't go to traffic school my insurance company will drop my from "good driver" discount. That would increase my insurance $800 over the next three years. As it is, the stop sign and traffic school has cost me $194.50, or the best part of two Benjamins. Then there is the cost of gasoline for my drive to Vegas. If I fill the trunk with bundles of Benjamins I am going to get poorer mileage.
Finally, the media tells me that the average house in Southern California has increased in price, since I sold mine in late 1994, by over $100,000. In addition I have made no money in the market to speak of for two years.
Alan and Ben keep telling us that inflation is "well contained". That has not been my experience. This is all meant to explain to you that my confidence is crushed and I will not be investing with you.
I hope you find an alternate investor to take my place. I think I hear Astral volunteering.
