I am extremely unhappy with this transaction. Many local shareholders rely on POM dividend. By agreeing to a cash offer, the dividend vanishes AND as I understand it, shareholders are deprived of opportunity to do a 1031 exchange into EXC stock, so selling will incur capital gains treatment. I almost wish one of the class action suits would be successful, ( but not likely a lot of benefit to shareholders.....lawyers just get paid to go away). POM shareholders need to send message to BOD that this deal is NOT in our best interests.....unless the company is in much worse shape than we know (i.e dividend is not safe) which is a whole 'nother story. Thoughts?
At 18, I had a nice gain and a very nice, steady dividend (which is the ONLY reason I bought the stock in the first place). If I wanted to sell the stock I could sell at any time I choose and post the gain. This is a FORCED sale. The only option shareholders have is to vote against the measure. The stock is essentially being called away from shareholders.,
