how many times do i have to post this to you guys.
sheesh, the public is sooooo stupid.
all adr holders will get 99 cents for every share held oN jan 9th (post distr. today).
NOW, if you take the european price and multiply by 1.24 youll be around where we
by the way, WE ARE TRADING UP HUGE TODAY if you take into account the .99 youre gonna get.
oh, boy, such morons................
Well, if you sale your shares after Dec24 untill the dividend date. You have to give your dividebd to whoever bought your shares. So I don't think it is because of the distribution
question, if you don't mind:
Since it is post distribution today should not SCO trade at ~$1.6 (equivalent to ~Euro1.3)??!
Hence is it not prudent to expect another ~20% drop to be au par with the European price?
It still doesn't explain why the stock keeps trending down on huge volume lately. Last year this time it dropped from $12 to $7 on low volume whcih was the $5 or so distribution. It continued dropping thereafter to the current price so the equity loss is still substantially higher than any distribution receieved.
Given the European price possibly headed lower, if you were to re-buy, wait till and see where you think it's headed to possibly get a better price.
You should get the 99 cent distribution IF they in fact pay it because you bought the day before the EX-div date.
Rebuying the shares, however, creates a "wash sale" in that you cannot write-off your 1-day loss because you repurchased within a 3-day window either before or after the sale. As such, you must absorb the loss and add that amount to the basis of your repurchased shares and in this case resetting the effective purchase purchase date of your new shares as yesterday. If this sounds confusing, go to the TURBO Tax website inside Quicken and read it there.
