Problem with adj close numbers in BPT's historical prices
I know there must be a logical answer to this, but I can't come up with it. And I've asked at Yahoo bug reporting, with no response.
When looking at historical prices back on October 6, 2006 (when I first started with BPT), closing price shows $73.35. Since 10/6/06, there have been paid $70.86 in distributions. By my calculations, that should give an ADJUSTED close for 10/6/2006 of less than $3.00. Yahoo says adjusted close for that date is over $33.
It is not a simple arithmetic calculation like that - if it was, you could have an adjusted price that was negative (had there been $90 dividends since the date you were looking at relative to the current price around $85). It is a geometrically linked data series (which is more accurate), which will not allow the previous adjusted prices to go negative.
