ALDW will keep climbing past exdiv because they are unknown and a new equity, while WHX will lose substantially after xdiv and might not revisit 5.5 once people figure it out. Too much of a gamble.
Aldw has not even begun its climb where whx is struggling to regain what it lost.
Another refiner that just began to move today is CVRR trading at 32.5. They declared 1.58 today and circa 6.50 for the year. They are also a recent spinoff harvesting cheap mid-continent light crude vs west tex intermediate vs north sea brent. Huge margin compared to the coastal refineries. Whiting will continue to meander until declaration, by then these two refiners will have gone exdiv, and you can get back in with your profits if so desired. Not a good place to gamble your hard earned profit though.
