AS I understand it, tomorrow is last day to buy and receive div..

Anyone think this is a good time to buy?

    • Actually, the way I understand it....

The previous day closing price is adjusted by exactly the amount of the dividend. The opening price will vary based on whatever normal activity creates. Dividend is usually a non-issue if you are not looking long term. However, ETP has always recovered nicely within a day or 2.
I would opt for buy at the open day after X date, especially after a dividend increase.

You are correct, ExDiv is Wed the 3rd. as DOR is the 5th.
Once the company sets the record date, the stock exchanges or the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. fix the ex-dividend date. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks two business days before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend.

History however indicates the unit price falls more than the distribution on average, so many times it is best to buy after and get the bargain price, and skip the dist. Just my take on hisory.

      Happy investing.

ps, many people do not know the rules however.
