If you want the quarter dividend, you better buy today or tomorrow. You must own the stock by the close tomorrow to share in the dividend.
Note that Monday morning the stock will correct down an amount equal to the dividend. This is, of course, to prevent people from buying Friday to qualify for the dividend and selling Monday to just collect the dividend.
Usually the stock recovers from its dividend correction fairly quickly, so don't fret over its required correction. Long term this is a great company and stock!
Uou are incorrect and this is a common misperception. the PPS is adjusted down on the ex-dividend date, NOT when dividends are paid.
Dividend payments, whether they are cash or stock, reduce retained earnings by the total amount of the dividend. In the case of a cash dividend, the money is transferred to a liability account called dividends payable. This liability is removed when the company actually makes the payment on the dividend payment date, usually a few weeks after the ex-dividend date.
You must not have read my post correctly. Monday, as I correctly stated, was the ex-dividend date and the stock adjusted down. I never indicated that a correction would happen on the dividend paying date. I know how dividends work (as you do).
No harm done, but you should be more careful before you call out other people's posts as incorrect!
