That a new closing high in the stock is hit and the board gets lockjaw, or some complain it should have happened sooner, ignore outperformance of other market indexes, or nitpick strategy without attending annual meetings instead of selling if they don't like the stock and finding something more suitable to their tastes, then brag about how smart an investor they are? What's wrong with this picture? For me, the 38 year investment has been great, I've gone to 38 annual meetings, understand the strategy, have confidence in management, love the dividends and sleep great at night. And I'm delighted BB&T is "STIL NOT FOR SALE" Bill's bar-b-q is the best in NC!
Heheh, look what you went and done and stirred up all these BBQ boys. Actually I'm a western style boy with tomatoe base but I adjusted to vinegar. I STIL haven't noticed any of these other places capable of catering a 5000 person dinner 4000 miles away. Demand is the name of the game. You cook it and they will come
After Hendrix on hwy 64 then I suggest if you get to China Grove to try Gary's Barbeque. He has a nice set up and he is called often to cater in Washington, DC. It is good that BB&T shareholders are good judges of slow cooked pork. John Allison goes out on Country Club Drive to eat at Little Richard's while makes plans for our company.
All you say is true with the exception of barbeque.....try Hendrix on hwy 64 between Lexington and Mocksville. Lexington has the name, Hendrix has the meat. My gain with BBT is such that I cannot afford to sell.
Sorry to break it to you, but Pauline's is the best barbacue in NC.
As for the stock, I can only hope that it holds on to the gains. It's been doing a lot of fluctuating over the last few days. Hovering around the $40 mark is great. Seeing it rise to $40.30 even better, then fall to $39.95... not so good.
I want to see it keep steady above $40. That would be great.
Thats what I'm sayin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being old has it's advantages, such as being around long enough to attend 38 meetings, which is older than most of the, shall we say, read a biased article and post it as gospel and backup for so called intelligent posts. Now, let us take up the Bill is the best issue. Couple years ago Bill catered a 5000 person dinner in California. Doesn't take much more than common sense to tell a lil ole NC boy is the best now does it. Didn't have to read a yahoo article to know it, just actually attend a daily meeting there, kinda like 38 annuals of BBandT, which STIL ain't for sale. Where I come from, that's called experience. Hmmmmm, I wonder if ole Wilson likes Bills.
