I've been seeing a lot of recent posts regarding the fact that ONCS has 10 employees. Some people are alarmed by this. It's obvious that these people have little experience in business, particularly business ownership.
See, not every person in an organization is an "employee", and not every person needs to be. Employees are very expensive, especially with new healthcare laws, and especially when you're operating in the state of California. I think the fact they have only 10 "employees" is commendable, and a testament to their efficiency. ONCS obviously has more than 10 people in their team, and this consists of an expansive network of doctors, researchers, contract employees, free-lance consultants, temps, and interns. While none of these people are techinically "employees", they are still vital resources, and cost about half as much as employees do. These people don't require half of the BS that comes with employees, yet they allow ONCS to get things done, and focus only on what needs to get done.
So if you're looking to find faults in ONCS, this is not one of them. If we had 30-40 employees instead of 10, our burn-rate would be double or triple, which means more dilutions, less cash, and slower progression. Then, the whiners and bashers would have something else to complain about.
Yes!!, i know a person whom purchased a "buggy whip" company about three years ago he thought the "horse and buggy" was coming back big time as a mode for transportation!!
the first thing he did was to fire the remaining employees!!!! He was not going to buy "obama #$%$ health insurance for these slugs!!! So he fired them!!!
since then his sales have remained the same!!but expenses are down to the lowest point in90years!!!
the parking lot was no longer needed, nor the lunch room, nor the restrooms, all but one was closed!!! Same with drinking fountains, kept just one in my office!!
no fire drills needed except in my office!!
i came to realize "employees" are a heavy burden, plus their unions are very costly and damage property during "strikes"--we never suffer from work stoppage anymore!!! Yet!! There is no shortage of "buggy whips"in america!!
