What's going on? I can't seem to find any news. Why did this just shoot up 10% from close today????? My philosophy is not to worry about AH if there's no news, but maybe something about the court decision leaked?

Geesh! All I did was describe some clown I saw do something years ago at a company that doesn't exist anymore to point out that not all "insider" trades are leaked info resulting in millions of shares traded after market. That it is POSSIBLE that some nobody hears something and makes a small trade (or has someone they know do it). I wasn't even claiming that in yesterday's case it was some big even going to happen. I think people around here are wound up a bit too tight waiting for the judges to get this closed up! With the weather, I sure don't expect anything this week!
well, I dont think you understand the legality of what constitutes insider trading
If you act on information (yeah, a whisper here or talk around the coffee room also qualifies) and even if you lose money.. it would still be insider trading.
Dont kid yourself.
Beware coming up with unrealistic, convoluted scenarios in order to justify a conclusion.
The idea that a 1000 share trade, exactly $1 off the current market price, executed after hours, was based on some positive information that the market doesn't know about is IDIOTIC.
First, it would be illegal. Second, it would be dirt-simple to trace and prosecute.
Third, there is a very easy explanation, which has been mentioned several times: someone was sloppy and punched in "9" instead of an "8." This happens. I was once on the "winning" end of exactly the same mistake - got 1000 shares of a stock at $1 below market.
There are good reasons to own this stock, last night's 1000 share screwup isn't one of them.
People always discount things like this because it's not a million shares or something! But sometimes a person who knows some info. is just a secretary, a clerk or someone just calling Dad who might have an extra few thousand dollars for a "good deal". I'm not saying this isn't just a mistake. But I don't automatically discount it simply because it's a small order. I really hope that someone is just making a little extra cash on some info. they have about something that will happen before the market opens tomorrow. But who knows. I guess we will tomorrow!
I completely disagree.
Usually, when news leaks (not publicly), it leaks so much it stinks and we find lots of insiders cashing in..If more trades occured after that one, I might believe your theory but this appears to be a one off.. which means, it was just a mistake.. the spread after hours is so wide that the poor guy must have executed a market order and got reeled in at $9.6
Never mind, sorry for the false alarm folks. I looked up NASDAQs real time quote and someone just bought a 1000-share lot at 1644 HRS for $9.60 in AH trading. Must be a blunder or careless market order of some sort.
