Question about the 1 Year Target On Yahoo

Not that it really matters but the Yahoo Finance page always lists a 1 YR Target price for a stock (except for the pink sheet stocks or OTC stocks as far as I know). Can ANYBODY explain where that starts and ends as it seems to be susceptable to change? Todays price is $ 5.86 (I believe) but is that $5.86 from today till 11-7-2013. Just curious and was wondering if anyone can shed any light on it. Thanks in advance..............

    Sentiment: Buy

    • It sounds like they ignor when the target price was announced and just do an average of the unexpired predicted prices. "1 year" implied to be neither right away or never.

According to Yahoo help page, "The 1 year price estimate is the average estimate from the available analyst reports that Yahoo tracks (hit the “analyst opinion” link in Yahoo Finance after you’ve called up your chosen stock"
