there was some discussion in Jan-Feb that NCZ does not earn its current divvy, so a cut would be imminent. What is the opinion of the members of this board now? Is NCZ earning its div. in the last 3 months? I have not been able to find this info, could someone please point to a doc (if it exists)?
Neither NCV nor NCZ are earning their dividends. That has been the case since June of last year. Don't care what CEF connect says. Divide NII by number of shares and NII does not cover the dividend. NCZ earns .079290 and pays .085. NCV earns .086717 and pay .09. If things do not charge soon both funds will have to reduce their dividend. My guess is .005 to .01 reduction.
For mrq I get $0.0872 NII/share for NCV. Dividing the difference into the UNII, I get 8.3 mos to use up UNII. At the rate things are going now, should be opportunity during that period to bolster NII. Personally, I am not worried about it. As I have said before, in the worst case, a small divy cut would still keep this a very attractive investment vs alternatives.
According to CEF connect. Both NCV and NCZ are earning the distribution. UNII is slightly negative, but I do not believe we will see a cut in the distribution. Go to cefconnect.com to get info on any closed end fund.
