SUPER LARGE CAP Mutual fund once heralded as the Safe-bet
for 401K investments, but NO LONGER....
Watching ALL of the holdings charts tumbling tumbling....
Anyone managing this fund? Anyone home???? Hello??????
"SUPER LARGE CAP Mutual fund once heralded as the Safe-bet
for 401K investments"
A. There is NO "safe-bet" when it comes to equities or mutual funds that invest in equities.
B. Think about this: it makes more sense to have a VERY tax efficient fund, like VTSMX or for the bigger boys VTSAX, in a TAXABLE account and have less tax efficient funds in a 401K!!! Now who was doing the heralding???
This is a passively managed index fund.... and equities on the whole haven't done very well since last August. What the hell do you expect? If you can't stomach this minor amount of volatility, why don't you just stuff your cash under your mattress instead. Meanwhile, the rest of us will keep picking up shares at bargain prices.
Of course no one is really managing this fund - it's an index. Get it? An Index.
The manager is really a bean counter that maintains the index. Now think about it, if the market went down like it did and the fund went up -- something smelly would be going on.
