The real question is: What's keeping in up? You could say support, but that is wearing thin. Just a matter of time under these conditions and it gives way... you do know what i mean...

NS is in the same situation. There running about $61 a share the 52 week high is around $78. The east coast railroads compared to the west coast are heavily dependant on coal. NS & CSX 29% is coal where UP is only 15%. No way to tell with BNSF these days. UP bounces from mid $ 90's to $115 a share. Projections for export coal are positive over the next couple decades. Time will tell with container shipments with the completion of the widening of the Panama Canal by 4th quarter 2014. Railroads are gieger counters for the economy they've improved in some areas and went flat in others.
Cutting taxes for the middle class shouldn't be difficult, especially when Republicans claim they agree with the President on the issue. But some Republicans are still holding middle-class tax cuts hostage simply because they want to cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires.
Here's what's going on right now: President Obama is asking Congress to move forward on a plan that would prevent 98% of American families from paying higher taxes next year. The Senate has passed that bill, and the President is ready to sign it -- but the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives won't even bring the bill to the floor for a vote. House Democrats have filed a petition that would force a vote if it attracts 218 signatures.
If a bill has enough votes to pass, Congress should vote on it and pass it. It's a pretty simple proposition. And every Member of Congress who hasn't signed on to keep taxes low for the middle class needs to hear from you.
tsktszin Your statement is asinine. Cheap Natgas via fracking is what has hurt the coal industry. The low price makes it attractive for utility companies to convert or plan new power plants using NG. Take your anti Obama whining nonsense back to the tea bag people.where it belongs.
That's ridiculious to compare the president on AF1 to CSX. Mabey you should do some research. The EPA regs that took place were actually put into place under Bush & a republican controlled congress about a decade ago. That's why when you read or hear about congressional committees trying to regulate anything it usually doesn't go into effect till 5-10+ years later. It gives those affected time to make changes. Which in a lot of cases doesn't happen.
