    mid-west drought

mid-west drought in central u.s. means less corn, less feed for cattle; imagine good for argentine export market and cresud.

    • I think that is why Cresud is moving higher lately. Grain export potential is trumping nationalistic behavior.

    • Yes, I can tell you we have a drought here in the part of the Ilinois were I live. Most of the corn crops are not going to make. The bean crops are not going to be any better than the corn if we don't get more rain than we have got. I am betting on the next crops coming out of SA to produce. If the growing season is half way decent, Cresud will stand to make a very nice profit. My Son-in-Law is a farmer, has crop insurance. He said he will be behind on his crop this year about $30,000.00. This will put farmers here in a bad position for more than just this year. No telling where prices will go on grains for a couple of years.

    • I agree that the situation in the mid west will drive up grain prices, but not beef prices. Wheat is Argentina's main export. I suspect wheat prices will rise but to a lesser extent than corn. Beef prices are dropping near term since ranchers are killing more cattle due to lack of corn.
