Finally Got My 686+ and Expecting a Beat

It's been a 6 month journey thanks to my home state. That, and you just can't find these in the north east. Twice during my experience I called SWHC to inquire when wholesalers would take delivery. When I say no 686's, I mean NONE. Not normal, not Plus, not 3", 4" or 5".

Both times I was told the factory was operating 24hrs at capacity and apologized for my inconvience. The fact the guy would even talk to Johnny Retail like me was impressive. SInce the dealers are not accepting backorders ("give us a call every few days"), I had to go hunting.

Due to permitting and time constraints, I finally located one. Much thanks to the good ol' boys at Modern Tactical in Lansdale, PA. (PS- They do not have any more).

I haven't followed the stock long enough to forecast the price action or a price to earnings. But I am comfortable calling an earnings beat, and strong guidance for at least 2 more quarters.

    • You will love your 686. I have an older one with 6" barrel and full underlug. I had bought mine used just a few years ago, and sent it to Smith and Wesson Performance Center for one of their "Revolver Packages" (custom tune-up, basically). That cost me about 100 dollars to have done, and that was well spent...accuracy is superb. Glad to hear of the "rarity" factor on them, not that I am looking to sell way.

Anyway...really enjoyed your Post, and enjoy your 686. I could not be more pleased.

Thanks Lorde, I was considering that as well, but would like to feel it for what it is, so I can appreciate the fine tuning later.

"Will" love it? It was love at first sight! I really wanted 3", but settled for 4" due to timing. It feels as comfortable and natural in my hand as a hammer or a saw. My only gripe so far is the screw that releases the cylinder is right where you put your finger when not on the trigger, I worry about skin oils on that screw over the years to come... I am expecting my great grand children to get this piece one day!

    • it will beat but its already baked in.... my guess it trends to 9.50 and drops back to 9.00 after report.
