There computer system change over hasn't gone well.
They have produced any significant amount of guns in over three weeks.
That's going to hurt earnings!
I don't work for S&W.
As stated before, I just call and talk to a couple of their distributors. Nothing non-public about it. Then read the notes of the conference call. The two items match. Surprised analysts don't do the same.
Eight shipping AND manufacturing days was current as of the conference call. It hasn't gotten any better.
S&W still hasn't shipped any measurable quantity of guns as of 6 Sept.
That is 20 missed work days and counting.
Go ahead and talk #$%$ about me and this post, but come back and look at it after next earning announcement...AND no CaptainWho2, I don't know when the next quarter's announcement will be, just that S&W hasn't made or shipped any appreciable guns in six weeks.
went to a gun show yesterday and a couple of gun stores.. seen a lot of s&w guns for sale. in fact shelves were full of guns.. all kinds... prices for the m&p's and bodyguards were reasonable.. the only bummer is the ammo situation... certain types can't be found.. that sucks....
Lets get the Facts Straight....Debney went on record yesterday stating that there would be 8 fewer production days in Q2 than originally forecasted because of the SAP instal issues. He stated earnings still restrained by production capabilities. That means "they are selling everything they make". You speak as though you have independently discovered that S&W is incapable of producing anything because you called some gunshop who told you they haven't rec 'd any guns ( he's probably ordering Shields like every other gun shop in the country) and now the dealer is #$%$ because there are better margins on a Taurus....Using the same method of "due diligence" I'm guessing it would also work to count the number of burgers being served per hour if you own MCD. If this has worked for you in the past I'd be careful you have discovered something know as " being right for the wrong reason"...
Don't take my word for it. Do some due diligence. Call a couple of their customers and ask when is the last time they received any S&W guns...That's what I did. Every quarter I call customers of every stock I own and ask what is popular, how things are selling, etc. Here are a few companies to call:
RSR Wholesale: 800.541.4867
Ellett Brothers: 803.345.3751
While you have them on the phone, ask them how they like S&W squeezing their margins.
Do any of you all do ANY due diligence? It is not hard. But, I guess it is easier to hang out on message boards and attack anyone who says anything contrary to your beliefs.
S&W's annual summer shutdown was scheduled for 29 July - 9 August. During that time, they were changing over computer systems. It is now 27 Aug, and they have shipped little to nothing to distributors since their 29 July shutdown. I don't know what period their earnings report covers, but they had almost no revenue for the month of August.
