Can anyone explain this to me? There was some serious trades in the last few minutes today however, it didn't seem to do anything with the price. Well over 300k shares in the last minute of trading. Is this being manipulated by the excessive 100 share trades as "place holders" during the day that were canceled for the big orders??? The 206k trade really is raising questions to me as this was a 3rd of the days volume in a single minute.
And now in afterhours NASDAQ is showing 392,981 trades?? I know when the pricing is .1234 (with two extra digits) it's from earlier in the day.. at least that is my understanding. Just wondering if anyone has some real insight in this.
I've seen this before on a Friday and somebody said it is the market makers balancing their positions. My guess is that not every trade is made electronically, so these transactions are done after hours to register the transactions in the system.
